Mark has been in the boating industry for the past 40 years. He started as an apprentice at Hunts Marine in Carlton, NSW in 1982 where he completed his studies 4 years later. Mark then moved to Noosa 8 years later and was workshop manager at Suncoast Marine in Noosaville. In late 1992 he ‘broke away’ to start his own marine business Breakaway Marine that has been servicing the locals of Noosa for the past 30 years.
Mark has knowledge in all inboard and outboard motors as well as vast experience in steel construction. After having an extensive history in the mechanical side of things, he has in the later years turned his focus onto on the management of the business and the sales of all products Breakaway Marine has to offer.
When away from the business Mark enjoys offshore and inshore fishing and is a highly involved competitor in the V8 Superboats.
Kerry has worked in the office with Mark ever since Breakaway Marine started in 1992. She may not have the technical knowledge like the boys in the workshop, but will help as much as she can. She is the happy person on the other end of the phone when you call.
Kerry loves to travel and see the world but would also just love a good book to read out on their property.
Following in his father’s foot steps, Jake has grown up around the business and the mechanical servicing of inboard and outboard motors. At the age of 12 he started weekend work at Breakaway Marine and picked up the knack of the trade naturally.
Jake then went on to commence an apprenticeship which he completed in February 2012. Jake has been apart of the Breakaway Marine crew for the past 11 years and in that time he has taken immense pride in all of his work and the running of the workshop.
Outside of work and his skills on boats mechanically, Jake also exercises his skill and precision in driving as a very successful driver in the V8 Superboats, battling the offshore swell in deep sea fishing, playing a great round of golf or going on adventures with Shell and “Billy” their beautiful dog.
Jamie has been in the marine industry for the past 29 years, he would catch the school bus to his first marine job where he would wash boats of an afternoon, until he became a marine mechanic. Trained in Mercury, Mercruiser, Yamaha and Quintrex. Jamie came onboard here at Breakaway Marine in 2010, spent 7 years before persuing other vantages until seeing the light and coming back in May 2022.
Jamie is born and bred local, he has grown up here on the coast. Living up in Noosa Hinterland with his wife and three children, in his spare time he is either at the Kart track with Cody, V8 Superboat Racing with Garlo, Kerry & Jake or relaxing at home with the family.
Cody would come along with Jamie (his dad) and spend his school holidays here at Breakaway Marine, doing odd jobs until becoming our apprentice in February 2023.
For the past 6 years Cody has gotten into Kart Racing and really excelling in his age group, if Cody isn’t at the track he is out fishing or boating.
Billy is always happy to greet everyone that comes in to visit, loves a good belly rub or to chew on your work boots.
When Billy isn’t at work he loves walks along the river, adventuring out in the boat or camping with his parents Jake & Shelley.
